Missionaries To The Philippines

Travis' Testimony

On December the ninth, 1989; I realized my need for the Savior. I realized that there was nothing in me that was good. All my goodness was tainted by sin. On a Sunday night after church, I called upon the Lord to save my wretched soul and to make me a new creature in Him.
Psalm 40:1-3; II Cor. 5:17.

Angela's Testimony

In 1980, when I was six years old, my dad and mom were saved. One month later, they started sending me to First Baptist Christian School in Rifle Colorado, and our family became faithful members of the church. At the age of 10, I made a profession of faith. I was very scared of going to hell, but that is all that I can remember of this. On February 20, 1997 having doubts about my salvation and disturbed because I could not remember what I had done at age 10, I repented of my sin and asked Jesus to save me.

Travis' Call To Preach

I believe we are commanded to preach(Mark 16:15). When I was about ten years old in Brewster, Nebraska the verse Rom. 10:14 rang in my ears, "How shall they hear without a preacher?" It was then I surrendered to preach.

Our Upbringing

Both Angela and I have grown up in godly Christian homes at Capitol City Baptist Church under the ministry of Dr. Hank Thompson. We both graduated from our Christian school and I attended the Institute at our church. In 1995, my wife and I were married. Soon after this I began leading the music in our church. From 1995 until 1999, I worked part time at UPS and part time at the church. In August 1999 I quit at UPS and started working full-time at the church and living by faith.

Christian Service:

I have been serving as an Assistant Pastor at Capitol City Baptist Church and perform all the related Pastoral duties, making visits, call-backs, fellowship with visitors, working the altar during invitation, leading the church music, singing in several groups, leading the college choir, directing the college soul winning group, directing the college activities, teaching in
the college, visiting the sick, helping the widows, soul winning, discipling new converts. Over the years, the Lord has given me the privilege of seeing several people saved and discipling them. Perhaps the most exciting family the Lord has allowed me to see saved and disciple was Joe and Cindy Lopez. They were saved in 1997, and now are active members of our church participating in several ministries of the church, and last year they put their children in our Christian school. Before I began leading music I worked for many years in the children's ministries of the church and during this time learned storytelling, ventriloquism, puppetry, gospel illusions, and balloon tying. My wife has also worked in the Preschool program, children's church, and taught in our Christian school.

Our Call to the Field:

The Lord has been dealing with my heart this past year about going to the mission field . I was praying for the Lords direction in where he would have me to serve. This year at our missions conference, through the slide presentation of Bro. Doug Sisson, the Lord touched my heart about the Philippines. I asked my Pastor to pray with me, and the Lord gave us both peace that this is where the Lord would have me to go.

Our Plan for the Mission Field

We plan to give the gospel through soul winning, street preaching, handing out tracts. Through these efforts we strive to see the salvation of many Filopinos and to establish local indigeonous New Testament Churches. We plan to also teach and train nationals whom God calls to be pastors.
